My name is Ivah La’au Floyd and my husband’s name is Devin Floyd we have a 17-month-old boy name Alan. I am originally from American Samoa born and raised there till I was 18 then I moved to the states. I now do reside in Utah and I work at the University of Utah hospital as a unit coordinator in the NBICU and I get to be around babies all day, and I’ve been there for about 8 months but before that I was working in pediatrics. My missionary service is something I’ll always cherish because it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life and that has also blessed my life in so many ways. I had the honor to serve in the Oklahoma Tulsa mission and I was fortunate enough to serve among the Marshallese community and I spent most of my mission in Springdale Arkansas and Huntsville Arkansas and I loved every minute of it. There were some challenges, but it made me loved the work even more. There are so many lessons I learned as a missionary that I still practice in my daily life, but I will share with you all a few.
1. Be kind to one another! Everyone is going through something no matter what it is, being kind goes a long way.
2. Love unconditionally today is never promised.
3. Make time for things that really matters (family, your health- physically, mentally, spiritually, etc.
4. Be open to new things! Don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone.
5. Help one another with a willingness and not expect anything in return.
